Elmen Center/Athletic Facilities
The Elmen Center is Augustana's health, recreation and athletic
facility. Dedicated in 1989, the Hall Forum seats 4,000 for athletic
events. Viking basketball is a popular spectator sport as Augustana
consistently ranks near the top ten in NCAA Division II basketball
attendance for men's and women's games.
In 2001, the College hosted the NCAA Division II National Volleyball
Championship with the Vikings playing in the championship game.
The Elmen Center also has a swimming pool, two raquetball courts,
a weight room, classrooms, a training facility and a multi-purpose
room for wrestling, aerobics, dance, karate, etc.
Ronken and Bowden Fields are home to Viking baseball and softball
respectively.
The Bob Hall Football Complex and Sanford Gymnasium was dedicated Friday, April 20, 2007.
The $4.2 million addition to the Elmen Center is a two-story facility designed to improve training, aid in the recruitment of student-athletes, and generally enhance the college’s athletic program. The lower floor of the 27,000 square foot structure is for the football program, while the upper floor provides practice space for men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball.
An all-weather track serves as the principle practice site for the
men's and women's track teams. Every summer, the Sioux Valley Football
Camp is held here and brings in players from NFL teams to serve
as clinicians along with Augie coaches and players. |
