Master of Science in Nursing

• Due to the aging population and increasing patient acuity, acute care nurse practitioners are in great demand.
• The Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program will prepare graduates to provide care in acute and critical settings as an advanced practice nurse. The program focuses on clinical care of persons from adolescence to older adulthood with acute, critical, and complex chronic illness. 
• Intensive online courses along with three in-person immersions with state-of-the-art simulation.
• Graduates will be prepared to be leaders of the interprofessional healthcare team and to:   
  • Provide holistic care for patients, families, communities and populations
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to promote equitable and fiscally responsible health outcomes
  • Implement evidence-based practice and quality improvement methods to promote the safe delivery of health care and strengthen outcomes 
  • Lead interprofessional teams to optimize care delivery in complex healthcare systems
  • Utilize informatics and communication to deliver safe, high-quality and efficient care
  • Assert leadership to expand professional knowledge and nursing expertise 
• Graduates of this specialty track are eligible to take the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification exam.

• The Adult-Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist Program will prepare graduates to provide advanced nursing care for adult and geriatric patients across the continuum from wellness to acute care.  
• The Adult-Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist practices in the spheres of influence of patient, nurse, and system. This unique advanced practice nurse is an expert clinician who provides diagnosis, treatment and management of patients. The CNS also provides education and support for nurses, leads practice changes at the system level and ensures the use of best practices and evidence-based care to improve patient outcomes.
