ShowTime Showchoir Camp

The Augustana University School of Music is excited to announce a new camp offering for the Summer of 2023; the “ShowTime Showchoir Camp” offers students an immersive experience in all aspects of creating a show culminating in a costumed and fully-choreographed performance Friday evening for invited guests.

Nick Quamme

This year's choreographer is Mr. Nick Quamme. Quamme is a freelance choreographer raised in Holmen, Wisc. and now based in West Des Moines, Iowa. Nick has professionally trained and performed for the past 20 years in various areas of the performing arts, including musical theatre, studio dance and competitive show choir. Nick’s professional work is currently focused on show choir, choreographing for 25 different groups across the US. Nick was honored to be named the Fame Aspire Award’s Best New Choreographer in 2017, with nominations in 2016 and 2018. This spring, Nick is thrilled to be returning to the stage, performing as an Angel in “Kinky Boots” at the Des Moines Playhouse.

Keyboard Ensemble & Technology Seminar

  • Audience | Independent Piano Teachers, Worship Musicians, Music Educators | Beginner, Intermediate
  • Camp Schedule | 8:15 a.m - 5:30 p.m.

Keyboard Ensemble & Technology Seminar (KETS) is a 5-day power-packed seminar for piano teachers, music educators and worship musicians. Daily hands-on sessions on the YAMAHA CVP-800 Series Digital Piano focus on group and individual teaching strategies, studio and performance digital ensemble techniques, current arranging and sequencing options, and much more. Network with uncommon teachers from all over the country, make new friends and prepare students for their musical future!

*Lunch provided.  Student housing available for $50/night.

Pro Tools Educator Workshop

  • Wednesday, July 5 - Tuesday, July 18 | Fryxell Humanities Center
  • Audience | Adult Learners | Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced
  • Camp Schedule | 8 a.m - 5 p.m.

The workshop covers the Avid Learning Academy (ALA) curriculum for the Avid Pro Tools Associate certification, along with the Avid Learning Partner (ALP) curriculum for Pro Tools User certification. Participants will learn basic and intermediate Avid Pro Tools operations, use of the Elements|ED digital assessment platform and Avid Training Admin Tools system. Participants will also participate in discussions and activities focused on curriculum development and design for music technology courses that utilize Avid Pro Tools software. Participants may elect to receive three graduate/continuing education credits for completing this workshop.

Augustana Jazz Camp

  • Audience | Competency Level: Grades 7-12 open enrollment with middle school students (7-8) needing a letter of recommendation for entry into jazz camp |  Intermediate, Advanced
  • Camp Schedule | 7:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Augustana University has teamed up with the Sioux Falls Jazz & Blues Society and Levitt at the Falls to bring jazz camp to Sioux Falls and surrounding communities. This July, Augustana is offering middle school and high school students an incredible opportunity to study with professional jazz artists through a variety of camp offerings and performances. Students get hands-on experience with jazz improvisation, jazz theory, jazz history, combo rehearsal, big band rehearsal, lessons, concerts and Master Classes. In addition, students will collaborate with a nationally-touring headliner and open for them at the Levitt at the Falls.

This camp captures everything students should enjoy in the summer — building new friendships, life-long memories, in an inclusive, fun-filled environment.

Sibelius Educators Workshop

  • Audience | Adult Learners |   Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced
  • Camp Schedule | 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

The Sibelius Educators Workshop provides a comprehensive approach to learning the fundamentals of the Sibelius application. In this course, you will discover and develop foundation-building themes and new ways of working in the software as well as a clear understanding of the Sibelius interface, from navigating the ribbon to inputting notes in a variety of ways. Become comfortable with using shortcuts while learning how to create, edit and print your score quickly and efficiently. This course provides the foundation for the Avid Certified User for Sibelius certification exam, enabling teachers to offer this curriculum at their institution. Participants may elect to receive three graduate/continuing education credits for completing this workshop.
