Faculty Positions
The faculty are those who have been granted status as faculty members by the Board of Trustees upon recommendation of the President. The faculty shall consist of teachers with the ranks of Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, or Instructor, and any other designated by the President.
The College welcomes applications for the following Faculty positions:

Title: Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach
Position Type: Part Time
Department: Athletics
Augustana College seeks to fill a part-time, 12-month, non-benefitted position as Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. The start date is anticipated to be in July or August 2013.
Duties: Participate with other Augustana College Strength and Conditioning Staff in day to day operations of two varsity weight rooms. Successful candidates will assist with the implementation of strength training, conditioning, linear and lateral speed development, flexibility, and recovery workouts for 3 to 5 sports programs. Additional responsibilities include weight room supervision, cleaning and upkeep of equipment, and any other duties or athletic teams assigned by the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. There will also be occasional teaching responsibilities within Augustana’s HPER/EXER SCI Department.
Requirements: Masters Degree in Exercise Science, or related field. Experience in the collegiate setting and a strong desire to excell as a strength and conditioning coach at the collegiate level preferable. Must be able to work alone with groups, one on one or as part of a larger team. Exhibit diplomacy and tact while protecting confidentiality and a sense of humor. The ability to work early mornings, late nights and weekends as needed. Currently C.S.C.S or CSCCa certified. Additional preferred certification: USAW. All candidates must be CPR/AED certified
Athletic information: Augustana College sponsors 18 athletic teams who compete in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and NCAA Division II. The athletic staff is located in the Elmen Center, the College’s athletic and recreation center. The athletic program is supported by more than 750 members of the Augustana Athletic Club and the broader Sioux Falls community of 160,000
Reporting Relationship: Reporting to the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, the Assistant Strength Coach is an integral component of a highly competitive NCAA Division II athletic program. The Assistant Strength Coach works closely with coaches, the Athletic Director, the Assistant athletic Director and the Head and Assistant athletic Trainers.
Compensation: $32,000/year. Additional $1,000 conference fund available.

Title: Visiting Assistant Professor
Position Type: Full Time
Department: Chemistry
Augustana College seeks to fill a 9-month, full-time, one-year visiting position in the Chemistry Department at the rank of Assistant Professor. Primary responsibilities include teaching organic and biochemistry to majors and non-majors.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in Chemistry (organic emphasis), post-doctoral and prior teaching experience would be considered a plus.
Salary: Dependent on qualifications.

Title: Assistant Professor of Exercise Science

Department: Health, Physical Education, and Recreation (HPER)
Augustana College seeks to fill a full-time, tenure-track position for Assistant Professor of Exercise Science in the Health, Physical Education, and Recreation (HPER) Department. This is a growing department serving more than 200 majors in Exercise Science, Athletic Training, Fitness Management, Physical Education and Sport Management. Excellent opportunities exist for collaboration with educational partners, health care agencies, and research centers in the Sioux Falls area.
Qualifications: Qualified candidates will possess an earned doctorate in the field of exercise science or a related field by August 2013. A commitment to quality teaching and scholarship and active participation in allied professional organizations is necessary. College-level teaching experience and the ability to involve undergraduate students in research are required. Applicants should have primary expertise in kinesiology and biomechanics. Additional expertise in athletic training and/or exercise science is helpful.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be teaching undergraduate courses in kinesiology and biomechanics along with other courses to support majors in Exercise Sciences and Athletic Training. Possible additional courses include, but are not limited to: Motor Development, Nutrition and Exercise, Personal and Community Health, History and Principles of Sport, or Fitness Administration. The candidate will also be expected to advise students, promote undergraduate student research, and provide service to the college and the community.
Salary: Competitive, dependent upon qualifications and experience.
