The faculty shall consist of teachers with the ranks of Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, or Instructor, and any other designated by the President.

Job Title: MBA Program Director and Assistant/Associate Professor of Business Administration

Position Type: Full-Time

Augustana University is seeking a visionary leader to serve in the role of MBA Program Director and Assistant/Associate Professor in the Business Administration Department.

As the MBA Program Director, the successful candidate will have the primary responsibilities of managing and leading the newly approved MBA program, teaching both graduate and undergraduate hybrid courses, guiding the development and administration of the Leadership Academy, participating in graduate committee work, and supporting recruitment and service functions as they contribute to the mission of the University, department, and program. The MBA Program Director will report directly to the Chair of the Business Administration Department and coordinate closely with the Associate Vice President for Graduate and Continuing Education.

The duties, competencies, and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

  • Promote the mission of Augustana University to all faculty, staff, and students, and the community at large
  • Develop and edit the MBA program handbook and guide
  • Comply with the standards of the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and eventually seek accreditation by the Accreditation Council of Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP)
  • Complete required institutional and program accreditation reports and other reports necessary for the operation and advancement of the University
  • Assist Chair in staffing, course development, curricular approval, course scheduling and course evaluation
  • Supervise the development, implementation, evaluation, and preparation of annual reports required in Graduate Education
  • Guide the development and administration of the Leadership Academy
  • Assess, assist, and guide face-to-face full-time and adjunct graduate faculty and coordinate with the department chair to participate in annual faculty evaluations
  • Assist in the recruitment of students to the MBA program and other Business related programs
  • Promote effective working relationships among faculty, staff, and students
  • Participate on university committees
  • Comply with all policies and procedures of the university, including those in the Faculty/Staff Policy Manual
  • Complete all reports necessary for the advancement of the university’s programs including enrollment, assessment, and retention reports
  • Oversee curriculum and teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses based on course need
  • Attend faculty meetings and commencement activities
  • Serve as mentor to graduate students while providing academic advice and conducting office hours
  • Participate in community and public service opportunities

The candidate for this position will be able to draw upon a range of relevant professional experiences and, in relation to that experience, an appropriate educational background. Accordingly, the ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:

  • A Ph.D. in Business Administration, a Doctor of Management (D.MGT.), a Doctor of Business -Administration (DBA), an Educational Doctorate (EdD)\, or other equivalent degree
  • Leadership experience in higher education
  • Demonstrated effective practical or graduate teaching at a regionally accredited institution

Job Title: Assistant Professor of Education or Special Education

Position Type: Full-Time

Department: Education

The Department of Education at Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD, invites applicants for a full-time Assistant Professor of Education or Special Education beginning August 2020.

Responsibilities: Depending on the candidate’s background and experience, primary teaching responsibilities would either include undergraduate courses in Foundations of Education and Human Relations, or in Special Education.   Potential online graduate courses would include online graduate courses within either the Master of Education or the Master of Education in Special Education program.

Qualifications: Earned Doctorate or ABD in Education, Special Education or a related area; three years of successful K-12 experience; ability to work collaboratively with colleagues; and have a preference for those candidates who have teaching experience at the college/university level in both face to face and online courses.

Salary: Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Job Title: Assistant Professor of Biology

Position Type: Full-Time

Department: Biology

Augustana University invites applications for a full-time, continuing-track Assistant Professor position in the Biology Department beginning Fall 2020. This primarily teaching position will encompass a variety of classes in our current departmental offerings. Candidates are required have a Ph.D. in a biologically-related field by the start of the position. 

Teaching Expectations: Courses will be assigned based on departmental needs from semester to semester, but will generally include lectures and labs for human anatomy and physiology as a primary responsibility, along with introductory biology courses for majors and non-majors as needed. The position will also require preparatory and organizational leadership for the anatomy and physiology labs.  While experience in any and all of these areas is a plus, a demonstrated dedication to undergraduate education and a willingness to be flexible is the primary expectation for this position.  The typical load entails 2 lectures and 4 labs each semester and 1 lecture over the January term.  Summer teaching opportunities outside of the base teaching load are also available.  Student academic advising is also an expectation of the position.  Research is not an expectation for this position.

Salary: Salary is competitive and dependent upon qualifications; excellent fringe benefits are included.
