Since 1940, the Department of Nursing has been a regional leader in preparing nurses, leaders, and administrators for hospitals and community health organizations. Sioux Falls (with a metro area of roughly 250,000) is a growing, vibrant, and increasingly diverse community that is home to several high-quality regional health care organizations who serve as partners to Augustana’s stellar programs.

The Nursing Chair is a full-time administrative faculty member who has leadership and administrative responsibility for the baccalaureate program, including coordination and participation in activities related to curriculum development, faculty recruitment and mentoring, student recruitment and retention, and program evaluation. The Chair ensures that the program meets all applicable regulatory, governmental, and accreditation standards. This individual will work closely with the senior leadership team to establish visionary programming, creative structuring, organizational innovations, and sustained growth in nursing and health sciences as Augustana embarks on the emerging and exciting 2030 Vision strategic plan.

Interacting with students, faculty and leadership with different backgrounds and points of view and a deep appreciation of and respect for academic values and culture must be a top value of the candidate.
