Water Safety Instructors
Instructors teach a variety of classes ranging from preschool-aged to Levels 1-6. An American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certification is required to teach upper level classes and preferred for all classes. School year lessons (fall, winter and spring sessions) occur once a week for eight weeks on either Monday, Wednesday or Thursday night, or Saturday mornings. Summer lessons are four times a week (Monday-Thursday) for two weeks (morning and evening time options).
Water Assistants
These staff members assist the instructors in the water with children while focusing on safety and skills practice. They also assist on the pool deck before and after lessons. No prior experience is necessary, as our staff will train in new hires. Lifeguard certification is preferred but not required.
Lifeguards
Lifeguards are essential to our aquatics program, as they are needed for open recreation times as well as during our youth swim lesson program. Lifeguards must hold a current Red Cross Lifeguard certification.
