Celebrating the milestone of graduation is extremely important to our entire Augustana community. While we were unable to hold the commencement ceremony as planned in May, we continue to celebrate the Augustana Class of 2020, both undergraduate and graduate students. Working with Augustana Student Association (ASA) leaders, graduates asked that we “invest in October” with a live in-person commencement ceremony. Celebrating in May was important to graduates, their families, and our entire community, therefore, we found other ways to celebrate the Class of 2020, too!
The Gauntlet — May 18
- Just as with an in-person commencement in May, diplomas are not distributed until after grades and degrees have been posted, and there are no financial obligations.
- Graduates had the option to purchase and have gowns delivered to them. The deadline to order and receive gowns by Saturday, May 23 was Thursday, May 14. The fee (which includes shipping) is $30. Those attending the in-person ceremony in October do not need to purchase a gown now unless you want one. Those orders will be placed at a later date.
- Class rings and diploma frames are available from Herff-Jones.
- Any parent or student who is interested in an Augustana branded editable file to either print for themselves or have printed for yard signs, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Nurse Pinning Ceremony — May 22
On Friday, May 22, at 3 p.m., the 2020 Nursing Pinning Ceremony was held virtually.
Special Message — May 23
On Saturday, May 23, we celebrated our graduates with a 2020 Commencement Address from President Stephanie Herseth Sandlin and a special video highlighting the names of those we have been so blessed to serve.
Commencement Ceremony — October 9-10
