Augustana DPT Program

Doctor of Physical Therapy

Why a DPT?

The Augustana University Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) is a 2-year accelerated, hybrid program that prepares graduates from across the country with the skills needed to advance and lead within the physical therapy profession. “Accelerated” means students complete the DPT degree in two years rather than the traditional 3-year model.

  • Students are not required to relocate. Students and faculty reside in their own communities anywhere in the country. Between lab immersions, all coursework is completed online from home through weekly asynchronous lessons and synchronous (live virtual) sessions, guided by expert faculty from around the country.
  • Approximately every two months, students travel to a 1-2 week, in-person, hands-on lab immersion with their cohort and the core faculty, alongside a group of adjunct faculty with expertise in the course content. These immersions are held in Bloomington, Minnesota (DPT-MN) or Englewood, Colorado (DPT-CO). Across the curriculum, there are seven lab immersions, 1-2 weeks in length.
  • Students also complete three immersive clinical education experiences located throughout the country, with limited experiences available internationally.

Please see each cohort’s academic calendar under the appropriate Minnesota or Colorado campus tab. Cohorts are named for the year of anticipated graduation.
