The Eide/Dalrymple Gallery at Augustana University opened its annual “Augustana Faculty Biennial,” which is on view through Saturday, March 18. A gallery reception will be held on Friday, Feb. 17, from 7-9 p.m., with a gallery talk at 7:30 p.m.
Recent works by the Augustana art faculty, instructors and faculty emeriti feature both two- and three-dimensional pieces and include painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, photography, printmaking and examples of public art projects completed in stained glass and mosaic. Featured artists include Chad Nelson ‘95, Scott Parsons ‘87, John Henry Peters ‘76, Anna Reich, Dr. Lindsay Twa and Molly Uravitch, as well as Faculty Emeriti Gerry Punt, Tom Shields and Steve Thomas ‘80.
This exhibition also introduces to the community the department of art’s newest faculty member Molly Uravitch, assistant professor of ceramics.
“Uravitch’s work is a highly imaginative celebration of pattern and form,” said Eide/Dalrymple Gallery Director Dr. Lindsay Twa. “She creates fantastical creatures that also serve as functional forms, from serving bowls to mixed-media lamps.”
Within this exhibition, visitors will encounter a diversity of process and intent. These works stand side by side in dynamic dialogue with one another — visual markers of the vibrant exchange of ideas also carried out within the art department, its classrooms and the Augustana community.
