In accordance with the guidelines recommended by the State of South Dakota and the City of Sioux Falls, the Center for Western Studies (CWS) and Augustana University have made the difficult decision to postpone the 24th Boe Forum on Public Affairs featuring Drs. Robert Green and Jamie Metzl. This year's forum, “Are We Ready? The Science, Ethics, and Geopolitics of Genetic Engineering and Preventive Genomics,” was originally scheduled to be held on Monday, March 23.

Augustana has been monitoring the rapidly changing developments related to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). To date, there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 within the Augustana community, however reports indicate that there are confirmed cases in the county and state. Both the State of South Dakota and the City of Sioux Falls have declared a state of emergency, thereby restricting movement and limiting gatherings to 250 people in an effort to slow the spread of the illness. The university has been closely watching updates provided by the South Dakota Department of Health (SD-DOH) and has assembled a risk-assessment team that has been meeting daily to discuss, identify and implement precautionary measures.
