The Center for Western Studies at Augustana University is excited to announce that the 45th Annual Artists of the Plains Show & Sale will be held Nov. 6-8, 2025, at the Catlin in downtown Falls.

For 45 years, Artists of the Plains has celebrated the creativity and talent of artists from across our region. This year, we welcome 22 artists working in a variety of styles and mediums. Throughout the weekend, visitors will have the opportunity to meet the artists, explore their work, and purchase original artwork directly from the artists themselves.

The Center for Western Studies will bestow cash awards to first and second place winners in the following categories: Two-Dimensional Best of Show and Three-Dimensional Best of Show. In honor of the 45th anniversary, this year's show will also feature a special People's Choice Award. Everyone who attends will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite artist, with the winner announced as part of the weekend's festivities.

Artists of the Plains is free and open to the public and remains one of the Center's annual gifts to the regional arts community. Whether you've attended for years or are discovering the show for the first time, we hope you'll join us for this special anniversary celebration. Show hours are Friday, from 5-9 p.m., with a reception and awards program at 8:00 p.m.; Saturday, from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m; and Sunday from 10 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Artists invited to participate:

As a signature program of the Center for Western Studies, this show and sale is designed to educate the public about the cultural importance and variety of regional art and artists. The largest and longest running show of its kind in the region, Artists of the Plains is an annual highlight of the Center’s Art Program and Educational Exhibits, one of several programming areas supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities. The event is a gift to the artists and collectors of the Northern Plains.
