Title: Assistant Coordinator Technical Logistics

Augustana University invites applications for an Assistant Coordinator Technical Logistics. This full-time position has responsibilities that include set-up and addressing technical needs for on-campus meetings, conferences, facility rental and music ensemble performances as requested through the Logistics Department.  The position requires flexibility, creativity, and an ability to represent the University in a professional manner.

This position requires mostly evening and weekend hours to support operations and events and will perform additional responsibilities related to operational and critical needs.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Responsible for providing the physical arrangements for all events, conferences, and meetings.
• Collaborate with the Logistics Coordinator on all event-related activities and operations.
• Participate in the Logistics Department’s On-Call Rotation as required.
• Provide logistical and technical advice and support for major events involving off-campus contractors. 
• Work closely with faculty, staff, and event coordinators to understand technical requirements and provide timely and efficient solutions.
• Utilize campus scheduling software for event coordination.
• Assist with setup and coordination for festivals, competitions, camps, recitals and concerts as well as provide support to off-campus event setups within the community as directed by the Logistics Coordinator.
• Train and supervise work-study students and student groups on the physical and technical aspects of event setup and takedown.
• Coordinate event logistics with Augustana Dining Services to ensure smooth operations.
• Assist with office tasks and administrative duties for the Logistics Department.
• Help maintain and track an inventory of college-owned equipment, including sound systems, microphones, stands, etc.

Qualifications:

• Proficiency with audio/visual equipment, computer systems, and basic troubleshooting practices. 
• Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record in order to operate an equipment truck, transporting instruments and supplies to performance venues in the area, and assist with general campus setups as directed by the Logistics Department.
• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and a professional, collaborative approach.
• Exhibit effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Be a proactive, self-motivated team player, dedicated to supporting both internal office needs and external campus and community partners.
• Capable of lifting up to 60 pounds safely and comfortably.
• Embrace a flexible schedule to support events, including availability during busy periods such as most Labor Day and Memorial Day weekends, as well as other evenings and weekends as needed.
• Knowledge of software programs: Excel, MS Word, Google and Access are a bonus.
• Have working knowledge/familiarity with handling and moving musical instruments is preferred.
• The ability to operate a forklift on rare occasions is preferred, the university will provide Forklift Certification Training.

Augustana University invites applications for a General Maintenance position within our Facility Services department. This full-time role involves maintaining and repairing the university's buildings, grounds, and facilities using expertise in various maintenance areas, including carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, and general upkeep.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair plumbing fixtures, doors, locks, windows, cabinets, and finishes.
• Perform preventative maintenance and emergency repairs promptly and efficiently.
• Operate equipment such as tractors, forklifts, and ditch diggers for maintenance projects.
• Assist with landscaping and special projects as directed by the supervisor.
• Act as the campus locksmith, managing key duplication, lock repairs, and security systems.
• Collaborate on remodeling projects and maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment.
• Adhere to safety regulations and maintain cleanliness and organization in work areas.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid South Dakota driver’s license with a good driving record.
• 3-5 years of experience in general maintenance.
• Proficiency in carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
• Skilled in reading blueprints and operating hand and power tools.

Desired Qualifications

• Knowledge of welding techniques (arc, aluminum, acetylene, etc.).
• Experience operating heavy machinery.
• Prior experience in a higher education setting.

Augustana University invites applications for a General Maintenance Electrician within our Facility Services department. This full-time role involves maintaining, repairing, replacing, and installing electrically powered systems across campus using best practices and technical knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Replace and maintain various lighting systems (e.g., fluorescent, recessed, emergency).
• Repair and maintain outlet switches, electrical circuits, and communication systems.
• Troubleshoot electrical elements to locate faults and ensure system functionality.
• Conduct new electrical installations and underground work across campus facilities.
• Maintain and repair campus electrical feeders, main distribution panels, sub-panels, and standby power systems.
• Work with fire alarms, motors, elevators, and other specialized systems.
• Collaborate with internal staff and external professionals, including city code officials.
• Operate low/high voltage locator for all underground electrical utilities on campus.

Title: General Maintenance - Plumber

Augustana University invites applications for the position of full-time General Maintenance - Plumber in our Facility Services Department.

Position Overview:

Facility Services supports Augustana’s (AU) mission of learning, scholarship, and creative endeavor by operating and maintaining the University's physical plant and grounds. Facility Services is seeking an experienced plumber with a broad base of knowledge in all aspects of commercial plumbing and maintenance, along with the ability to maintain and repair the buildings owned by the university.

Job Duties:

• Install and maintain all plumbing equipment, along with sanitary sewer lines, in accordance with local and state codes and requirements.
• May obtain building permits and schedule all inspections.
• Maintain all tools in good working order.
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks as directed. Wear maintenance uniform shirt for normal activities.
• Utilize safety equipment as needed including eye protection, gloves, hearing protection, hazard suits, respirators, safety harnesses, etc.
• Available to work overtime, occasional weekends and evenings as required.
• Required to be on-call through rotations.
• This position works under all weather conditions.
• This position may transport up to 65 pounds while ascending/descending stairs; perform overhead work; safely and effectively operate a wide variety of tools, equipment and vehicles.
• Perform regular investigations of facilities systems and equipment which involve accessing confined areas, vaults, tunnels, ascending/descending roofs, catwalks, and ladders; and exposure to temperature extremes, noise, heights, energized/pressurized systems, and research-related activities.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Sufficient experience to qualify as journeyman-level knowledge equivalent to four years’ completion of education and work experience, with approximately three years of actual plumbing work experience (residential, commercial or municipal). This may include time spent in apprenticeship or vocational training.
• Contractor’s License.
• South Dakota driver’s license and good driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with interfacing with a Computerized Maintenance Management System.
• Experience balancing multiple work assignments, meeting deadlines, and exercising adaptability to changing priorities.
• Experience in mechanical plumbing.
• Experience working with steam would be a plus.

Title: Mail Courier

Position Type: Part-Time

Augustana University invites applications for a mail courier. This part-time, 20 hour per week, position will primarily sort, process and deliver campus mail and packages to the university community via campus vehicle.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Responsible for picking up mail at the postal distribution center every morning via campus vehicle.
• Sort Distribute incoming and outgoing mail and packages to designated areas across campus; requires use of a scanning system.
• Ensure accurate and timely deliveries while maintaining confidentiality and security of mail contents.
• Coordinate with departments regarding large or special deliveries.
• Provide courteous and professional service in all interactions, embodying the spirit of community and support that defines Augustana University.
• Maintain the delivery vehicle, including regular upkeep and ensuring both the interior and exterior are clean and orderly.
• Sort and process incoming and outgoing mail for the university community, utilizing a scanning system to track items and maintain an efficient workflow.
• Operate the postal meter machine to prepare mail for dispatch.
• Verify that all mail pieces are accurately labeled and have the correct postage to prevent delays in processing.
• Assist departments or students with locating missing packages when needed.
• Sort and distribute mail into mail lockers, and coordinate with software representatives for troubleshooting and ensuring lockers are functioning properly.
• Record and update information related to student addresses as needed.
• Support operations at the postal window, including processing outgoing packages, selling stamps, and handling transactions at the cash register.
• Deliver mailings to the bulk plant on the north side of Sioux Falls when necessary.

Title: Substitute Teacher

Department: Campus Learning Center

The Augustana University Campus Learning Center invites applications for Substitute Head Teachers. The hours for this position are 7:30 am 5:30 pm Monday through Friday. This is a year-round as-needed position.

These positions could occur in classrooms for children 1- to 3-year olds or in classrooms for 3- to 6-year-olds. A teaching position could be for a five-hour or eight-hour shift, and could be for one day or several days in a row. Long term summer assignments are available. 

Required Qualifications:

• A Bachelor's Degree is preferred in Early Childhood, Elementary Education or Special Education.
