Tutoring

Tutoring at AU

Students should seek help with undergraduate courses after they have reviewed a chapter, done problems, reviewed their notes and still find themselves stuck or struggling with a certain subject.

Speaking with the professor is often the best place to start. At Augustana University, students form ongoing relationships with professors during office hours, co-curricular activities, academic advising and research.

The Student Success Center, Nancy Dickinson Writing Center and Math & Statistics Skills Center can also connect students with peer and department-specific tutors.

Supplemental Instruction

Supplemental instruction (SI) is available for foundational courses. Upperclass students are hired to attend class and meet with instructors to prepare for their SI session, which is offered weekly. Students can regularly attend SI to gain new insight and study strategies for material covered that week. Students should ask their professor if SI instruction is available for their course.

Peer Tutors

Connect with peer tutors in the Writing Center and Math & Statistics Skills Center. Peer tutors provide quality, course-specific academic support to Augustana students at no cost. Peer tutors have excelled in the courses they support and have been trained to facilitate discussions on course content, as well as learning strategies and study habits.
