A Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in legal studies degree at Augustana University is designed for students who are interested in local, state and federal positions, as interest group activists and policy researchers. Students who major in legal studies will:
- understand the fundamental concepts in the study of politics and political institutions;
- develop a systematic understanding of American law and the function of the legal system;
- recognize and analyze political and moral values embedded within legal systems;
- understand and critically analyze the role of lawyers in the American legal system;
- produce clear and persuasive written work about politics and political institutions; and,
- engage with the broader community through experiential and/or service learning.
