Prospective and transfer students first apply to the university, then may be sent a nursing program early admission application based on eligibility.

Nursing applications are due no later than Feb. 15 of the year in which the student desires to begin upper-division nursing courses. Applications are available in the nursing office.

Sergeant Major (SGM) Joaquin (Jei) Andujar served our country in the United States Army for 26 years, most recently as part of Mortuary Affairs. He was a decorated combat veteran and humanitarian. In his honor, Jei's wife Tara has set up a memorial scholarship fund for full-time university students who are veterans of the military, spouses and/or children of veterans, or active duty personnel pursuing a major in nursing or a Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN). Why choose the Augustana University Nursing Program?

The Augustana Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) combines a liberal arts foundation with professional nursing education. Students develop clinical skills, critical-thinking abilities and leadership competencies that prepare them to care for patients in a variety of health care settings.

Do nursing students complete clinical experiences before graduation?

Yes. Located in Sioux Falls, a healthcare hub, nursing students participate in clinical experiences that provide hands-on learning experience for students. These clinical placements allow students to apply classroom knowledge while developing patient care, communication and decision-making skills.

Is Augustana's nursing program accredited?

Yes. The Augustana Nursing Program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and approved by the South Dakota Board of Nursing (SDBON). Augustana is also the only institution in South Dakota with an officially endorsed Holistic Nursing Program by the American Holistic Nurses Credentialing Corporation (AHNCC).

How successful are Augustana Nursing Program graduates on the NCLEX-RN Exam?

Augustana Nursing Program graduates consistently achieve NCLEX pass rates that are higher than South Dakota and national averages. The program emphasizes evidence-based practice, clinical preparation and professional readiness to support student success.

What careers can graduates pursue with a nursing degree from Augustana?

Augustana Nursing Program graduates are prepared for careers in hospitals, clinics, specialty care settings, community health organizations and other health care environments. A BSN degree can also provide a foundation for advanced nursing education and leadership opportunities.

2. Click on Create an Account and begin completing the required fields to start your application. If you have already created an account in previous application cycles, you can click on the Application Login at the top of the page.
3. Once your account with NursingCAS has been created, you will have access to all of our program applications. Please complete the information required for the Accelerated BSN application.

The accelerated nursing program begins each fall. The application deadline for admission is Feb. 15, or until the program is full.

Students who apply for admission will submit documentation of:

1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
2. Cumulative GPA of 2.7 or higher
3. Successful completion of all pre-requisite courses

Admission into the program requires certain sensory, psychomotor, cognitive, communication and behavioral/social abilities that are essential to the practice of nursing.
