International Student Application Process

Augustana University has a rolling admission process. This means when your application is complete, it’s reviewed right away and a decision is made on your admission into the university. Applying is free!

Application Requirements for International Students

1. Application for Admission

2. Secondary and Post-Secondary Transcripts, Results and/or National Exam Scores

  • Students who have completed AP, IB or A-level exams may be eligible for college credit.
  • If your original transcript is not in English, a translated version is required.

3. Application Essay

  • Submit a 1-page essay describing your educational journey and your plans for the future (250 words minimum) or the Common App Essay/Personal Statement.

4. International Student Financial Ability Form

5. Demonstrate English Language Proficiency

  • See criteria that meet the requirement below. Only one of these is required, not all of them. Additional criteria that may waive the English proficiency test requirement can be found in the drop down below.

Additional Application Materials

Note: The following two documents will be required for your F-1 student visa process. You are welcome to submit them with your application, but they are not required for your application to be reviewed for admission.

  • a financial/bank statement showing sufficient resources to support yourself for one academic year (the U.S. government requires, at a minimum, to show that you have funds for your first-year costs. Being able to show funds for more than one year is advisable and may increase your chances of a successful F-1 visa application)
  • a copy of the photo page of your passport

How to Submit Your Application Materials

  • Common App applicants will receive an email inviting them to set up their Augustana application portal from admission@augie.edu. If you are having trouble, you can search your inbox for the subject line “Augustana Application Portal + Checklist”
  • Augustana online applicants will need to log back into your application portal and upload the documents to your application dashboard
  • Applicants can also send documents electronically (including scans of transcripts and exam scores) to international@augie.edu.
  • Schools that submit official copies of transcripts can send electronic copies to admission@augie.edu or international@augie.edu. We recommend that your high school counselor submit a copy of your transcript electronically at their earliest convenience.

Original paper documents sent by mail must be sent by regular or express courier to:
