The Math & Statistics Skills Center at Augustana University opened to students in Fall 2024 — a response to what faculty were witnessing among students in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, the center has become popular among students with a variety of different majors — taking advantage of its resources, community and vibe.

National Park Service Awards Augustana $61K to Preserve African American Heritage Sites in Sioux Falls
The Augustana History Department has secured $61,000 from the African American Civil Rights History Grants Program — administered by the National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior. The funding will help create Augustana student internships in archival work, historic preservation and public history.
An Ode to His Home State: AU ’s Writer-in-Residence to Release Latest Book, Greater Minnesota
Augustana University is announcing the release of Dr. Patrick Hicks’s latest book, Greater Minnesota: Exploring the Land of Sky-Blue Waters, which is being published by Indiana University Press. The launch of the book, written by Augustana’s Writer-in-Residence and professor of English, is set to take place on Monday, Sept. 1. In this new book, Hicks takes readers on “a witty, wise and affectionate journey to every corner of the North Star State.”

Augustana University to Launch Second Doctorate, OTD Program in Fall 2026
Augustana University is embarking on its second doctorate program in three years. The Augustana Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) program, housed within the university’s School of Health Professions, is set to launch in Fall 2026. Augustana’s OTD is an accelerated, hybrid, entry-level or pre-licensure program designed to meet adult learners where they're at in life. The hands-on component of the program, known as lab immersions, will take place in the Twin Cities in Minnesota.
