Biography 

Born and raised in Brazil, Bella Kumagai serves as a instructor of piano at Augustana University, where she teaches Group Piano, Ear Training and individual piano lessons. She holds a master’s degree in piano performance from the University of North Dakota.

 

Kumagai has appeared as a soloist with orchestras in both the United States and Brazil. Beginning piano studies at a young age, she went on to compete in numerous national competitions in Brazil, earning more than 10 first place awards in respected institutions such as the Magda Tagliaferro Competition.

 

Kumagai's teaching career began in 2014 at the Ivana Bontempo Music School in Brazil, continued through her work with the University of North Dakota Community Music Program and now extends to her role at Augustana University. She also serves as a collaborative pianist, accompanying the Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church choir and leading their worship band, and she maintains a private piano studio at Popplers Music.
