Biography
Dr. Brett Beuning is an associate professor of physical therapy in the Augustana University Doctor of Physical Therapy-Colorado (DPT-CO) Program, where he serves as a primary instructor for human anatomy and musculoskeletal coursework. His teaching focuses on integrating clinical relevance with foundational anatomical and musculoskeletal science to support professional practice.
Prior to joining Augustana, Beuning spent eight years as core faculty in Baylor University’s hybrid DPT program. During this time, he taught in anatomy, musculoskeletal and advanced interventions courses, and served for several years as the director of clinical education.
Beuning earned a DPT degree from Regis University in Colorado. He subsequently completed his Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) Certification and fellowship training through the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists (FAAOMPT). Before leading education programming for a large Texas-based clinical system, he spent nearly two years developing clinical education content that helped lay the groundwork for hybrid DPT programs. He then spent five years directing educational initiatives within a large multi-clinic system in Texas, while he also served as adjunct faculty for the Army-Baylor DPT Program and DPT program for South College of Tennessee. He also served as director of the Evidence In Motion Orthopaedic Residency Program, taught within its musculoskeletal curricula and mentored residents and fellows, both in clinic and remotely. Including the Augustana DPT-CO Program, Beuning has participated in the development and accreditation of three hybrid DPT programs.
Beuning’s scholarly interests include pain interventions, dry needling, musculoskeletal physical therapy, hybrid and innovative educational models, clinical anatomy and public access to care.
Beuning and his wife are from Minnesota, but lived in Colorado for 10 years before ending up in San Antonio, Texas. Each of his three children were born in different states.
