Biography 

Dan Workman is the chair of the Augustana University Theatre Department where he teaches directing, acting, script analysis and other courses. A veteran director and professional actor with decades of experience, Workman has in-depth knowledge of academic, touring and not-for-profit theatre operations. Workman is the artistic director of the Black Hills Playhouse, the premiere regional summer stock theatre in South Dakota, which has been producing seasons in Custer State Park. Annually, he conducts auditions, casts all productions and hires and works with artists from across the nation to produce a season of theatre. In addition, he is the co-founder of Dakota Players, a touring theatre company which conducts programs for youth in grades K-8, which visits approximately 40 locations annually across the region. Workman earned an MFA in theatre direction from the University of South Dakota, and a BFA in theatre performance from Tarkio College. He has taught at Morningside College and the University of South Dakota in addition to Augustana University.
