Biography 

Dr. Fernando Castillo earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in biology from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas, in 2017. He then dual-enrolled in a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT/Ph.D.) program at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, Arkansas, earning a DPT in 2020 and Ph.D. in 2021. His dissertation focused lingering effects of sport-related concussion on adolescent athletes' dynamic balance capabilities to help optimize return-to-play protocols.

 

Castillo's areas of expertise in teaching include gross anatomy, neuroscience, pathophysiology and pharmacology. He has been teaching in higher education for more than three years while maintaining clinical practice in the inpatient rehabilitation setting, holding clinical interests in rehabilitating patient populations with spinal cord injury, stroke and Parkinson's Disease.

 

Castillo lives in Dallas, Texas, with his family. He enjoys woodworking, carpentry, hiking, swimming and jogging.
