Biography
Dr. Harsha Sammangi is a researcher, educator and technology innovator who is passionate about using data and emerging technologies to solve meaningful problems. His academic journey began in computer science and engineering in India, where his interest in technology led him to pursue advanced study in information systems in the United States. Today, he serves as an assistant professor of business analytics and management information systems in the Augustana University Rydell School of Business.
As an educator, Sammangi strives to make technology and analytics approachable, practical and relevant. His teaching connects academic concepts with real-world business situations, helping students understand not only how analytical tools work but also how they can be used to make thoughtful and informed decisions. He values curiosity, creativity and hands-on learning and encourages students to view technology as a tool for creating positive change.
Sammangi’s research lies at the intersection of business analytics, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and multimedia security. His doctoral research developed a real-time framework for detecting tampering in live-streaming video using adaptive digital watermarking and lightweight deep learning. His broader scholarly interests include Internet of Things security, blockchain, federated learning and the responsible application of artificial intelligence. His research has been published and presented through national and international scholarly conferences and publications.
Sammangi earned a Ph.D. and an M.S. in information systems from Dakota State University and Bachelor of Technology in computer science and engineering from GITAM University. Beyond teaching and research, he is an author and entrepreneur who enjoys transforming innovative ideas into practical solutions.
