Biography
Dr. Pilar Cabrera Fonte is a writer and scholar born in Mexico City, Mexico. Her research focuses on Cuban literature, and she is the author of the novel Camelia 12, a biographically-inspired tale of immigration between Cuba, Mexico, and the U.S., which was awarded the Premio Juan Rulfo para Primera Novela in 2022 by Mexico’s Institute for Fine Arts and Literature, INBAL. She has also written various articles, short stories and a literary translation for the collection Antes y después de Drácula (1998). She has also contributed book chapters to the collections Virgilio Piñera. El artificio del miedo [Virgilio Piñera. The Artifice of Fear] (ed. López Cruz, Humberto. 2012); Alternative Communities in Hispanic Literature and Culture (eds. Castañeda, Luis, and Javier González, 2016) and La Futuridad Del Naufragio: Orígenes, Estelas y Derivas [The Futurity of the Shipwreck] (Lupi, Juan Pablo and César Augusto Salgado, eds. 2019).
