Biography
Dr. Sam Macdonald joined the Mathematics & Statistics Department at Augustana University in Fall 2026, following a summer stint at Scientific American as a AAAS Mass Media Fellow. Before that, he was getting his Ph.D. at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and before that, he was working at the Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It’s a long story. His research lies scattered across the wide landscape of mathematics education — from innovative grading practices to teaching mathematics in prisons. He's thrilled to be back at a liberal arts institution and probably should have gotten a haircut before his faculty photo.
