Biography
Dr. Shivatharsiny (Shiva) Yohi is an assistant professor of chemistry at Augustana University. Her academic career spans more than 15 years of international teaching, mentorship and research in advanced materials. Prior to joining Augustana, she served as a Senior Lecturer (Grade I) at the University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka, where she spent more than a decade teaching undergraduate and graduate students.
Yohi earned a Bachelor of Science degree with honors in chemistry from the University of Jaffna in 2008. She then moved to the United States to pursue advanced studies, earning both a Master of Science (2012) and Ph.D. (2015) in chemistry from the University of South Dakota under the supervision of Dr. Ranjit Koodali. Her doctoral research focused on the development of porous nanomaterials for solar energy conversion and environmental remediation.
