Fighting Food Insecurity

In Fall 2019, Our Savior's Lutheran (OSL) Church and Augustana Dining Services partnered with the Augustana Student Association (ASA), Dean of Students Office, Campus Ministry, International Programs Office (IPO), Serving and Learning Together (SALT), Student Engagement, and Student Life to create a trio of programs aimed at fighting food insecurity within Augustana's campus community.

Campus Cupboard

Campus Cupboard is a food pantry that provides non-perishable food items to any member of the Augustana community who needs them. The Campus Cupboard will be open and staffed during the following days and times each week throughout the semester at two different locations.

Our Savior's Lutheran (OSL)

  • Wednesdays | 4-7 p.m.
  • Thursdays | 4-7 p.m.
  • Sundays | 9-11 a.m.

To access the Campus Cupboard most easily, enter OSL through the western entrance on Prairie Avenue, take the first set of stairs (on the right) down one level. The Campus Cupboard is located just at the bottom of the stairs. Those who visit will be asked to show an Augustana ID, but no identifiable information will be collected or kept.

Student Street in the Edith Mortenson Center - This location will open Winter 2022!

  • Tuesdays | 8-10 p.m.
  • Saturdays | 2-4 p.m.

Those who visit will be asked to show an Augustana ID, but no identifiable information will be collected or kept.

OSL Food Ministry

OSL Food Ministry serves two free meals per week, a breakfast on Sundays and dinner on Wednesdays. Meals are served in the Gathering Place at OSL on the following days and times starting September 12.

  • Wednesdays | 5-6:30 p.m.
  • Sundays | 9:30-11 a.m.

Swipe Out Hunger

Sodexo, Swipe Out Hunger, and Augustana University has partnered to establish a meal swipe bank for students experiencing food insecurity. Upon request, meals from the bank will be added to a student's ID card, making them available to use by swiping in at the Ordal Dining Room. To learn more or to request meals, visit the Swipe Out Hunger webpage and request form.

The Campus Cupboard is supported through community donations. Non-perishable food and/or personal hygiene donations will be accepted on-campus starting in September. Please check back for more information regarding this process.

Online donations are accepted. Please note that donations may be used for either Campus Cupboard location as need arises.
