Campus Ministry at AU

Faith and learning go hand-in-hand at Augustana University. Campus Ministry supports students as they ask questions, explore vocation, as well as discover more about themselves and the world God made.

  • As a university of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), Augustana is rooted in a particular Christian tradition, while also being radically open to those who are not of that tradition. All are welcome, wherever they are on their spiritual journey.
  • A rhythm of daily worship grounds the campus community and gives worshippers practice for how to live and serve as God’s people. Chapel services lift up a variety of theological perspectives and musical styles.
  • Campus pastors are available for prayer, vocational discernment and spiritual care.
  • Programming is student-led and includes regular opportunities for Bible studies, service, faith conversation and leadership development.

A 14-panel reredos depicting the life of Christ, donated to Augustana in 1962 in honor of Paul Rogness ‘58, will emerge from storage and find its new home in the Chapel of Reconciliation.

Augustana plans to invest in what has served as the heart, the center of campus for more than four decades. The university needs a total of $3 million to make upgrades to the chapel — to make the building a more desirable place for the AU community to gather and worship together.

Across the country and around the world, Augustana alumni are serving in ministry roles and living out the university's core values of Christian faith and service — from a seminarian in Rome and volunteer in Serbia to a hospital chaplain in Colorado and theatre camp director in Iowa. Alumni have served with organizations such as Athletes in Action, Border Servant Corps, Pan De Vida and Mission to the World.
