The Center for Western Studies (CWS) at Augustana University has named Dr. Jon K. Lauck as its next executive director. He is only the center’s fourth leader since its founding by author and Augustana Professor Emeritus of English Dr. Herbert Krause in 1964.
Six Augustana University students have been awarded Fred C. and J. Marie Christopherson Scholarships for the 2026-26 academic year. The recipients of the Fred C. and J. Marie Christopherson Scholarship are recognized as students who are committed to the university, respected by their peers, have a strong work ethic and a solid character.

For the sixth year in Augustana’s history, the university’s commencement ceremonies will be held at Kirkeby-Over Stadium. The ceremonies on Saturday, May 23, will include an undergraduate ceremony for the Class of 2026 at 10:30 a.m., as well as a graduate hooding and commencement ceremony at 2 p.m.
