Augustana University student Adam Brachman ‘28 has received the 2026 Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program Award, which provides American college and university students with the opportunity to study cultures and languages essential to U.S. global engagement. The media production & entrepreneurship and music double major will spend eight weeks in Okayama, Japan, intensively studying the Japanese language and culture.

Augustana Art Department Bestows Spitznagel Medal for Achievement to Three Graduating Artists
The Augustana University Art Department has presented its highest award — the Harold Spitznagel Medal for Achievement in Art — to three graduating Augustana students during the opening reception of “The Augustana Senior Show” at the Eide/Dalrymple Gallery on Friday, May 1. This marks only the second time that three individuals have been honored with the award in one year.

Augustana University Student Named 2026 Truman Scholar
Augustana University student Jessalyn Wienk ‘27 is one of 55 college students nationwide to receive the 2026 Truman Scholar Award. Wienk is the 11th Augustana student to win the award in Augustana’s history and the first honored since 2020.

Donovan DeJong ‘93 has been named the 2026 Augie Pride Award winner. He was recognized on Wednesday, April 29, at the university’s annual Service Awards & Retirement Recognition Ceremony in the Ordal Dining Hall of Morrison Commons. Since 1999, the Augie Pride Award has been given to employees who go the extra mile to provide exceptional service to the university.
