Augustana University and the Center for Western Studies (CWS) announced today that the 27th Boe Forum on Public Affairs will feature an evening with New York Times opinion columnist, PBS NewsHour commentator and bestselling author David Brooks. The talk, entitled “America at the Crossroads: The Rule of Law and the Future of Democracy,” will be held at 7:30 p.m., on Tuesday, March 19, in the Elmen Center. Tickets for the 27th Boe Forum are free and will be available to the public in the coming weeks.

Mary (McConahie) Toso ‘90 was recognized with the award on Wednesday, April 17, at the university’s annual Service Awards & Retirement Recognition Ceremony in the Ordal Dining Hall in the Morrison Commons. The Augie Pride Award is given to those who go above and beyond the call of duty to provide exceptional service to the university — nominated by other AU employees.

In August 2023, Augustana University received an estate gift worth $660,000 to provide resources to student-led environmental sustainability initiatives. While estate gifts aren’t out of the ordinary, this one was different — Dr. Donald H. Nelson had no known connections to Augustana.
