Viking Days 2021 will be held Oct. 8-10, 2021. A timeless tradition, #VikingDays is one of the best times to celebrate being an Augustana Viking!




  • Student Activity: Viking Days Kickoff: 5-7 p.m., Commons Patio/Campus Green
  • Viking Feast (for the campus community): 4:30-7 p.m.
    Viking Feast, an all-campus event with fun for the whole family.
  • Coronation: 7 p.m.
    Crowning of the Viking Days Royalty
  • Student Activity: Sailing into Service, All day, Back Alley, Morrison Commons
  • Student Activity: Chris Funk - "The Wonderist", 7 p.m., Hamre Recital Hall
  • Student Activity: Float Building: 4-7 p.m., Fryxell Humanities Center parking lot
  • Eide/Dalrymple Gallery Reception: 7-9 p.m., Gallery talk at 7:30 p.m.
    Augustana alumnus Kent Kapplinger ‘77 will have his work featured in the exhibit, "A Quiet Voice Heard: Retrospective of Kent Kapplinger."


  • Class of 1970 and 1971 Memorial Service: 10 a.m., Chapel of Reconciliation
    The classes of 1970 and 1971 will gather to remember departed classmates.
  • Honor Guard Luncheon: 12:00 p.m.-1:15 p.m., Our Savior’s Lutheran Church (909 W. 33rd St.)
    A luncheon for alumni who are celebrating or have celebrated their 50th class reunion. Members of the classes of 1970 and 1971 will be inducted into the honor guard. Reunion photos for the classes of 1946, 1951, 1956, 1961, and 1966 will be taken at the luncheon. Registration is required.
  • Augie Update: 1:15 p.m. - 2:15 p.m., Our Savior’s Lutheran Church (909 W. 33rd St.)

  • Rendezvous Presentation: 4 p.m., Back Alley, Morrison Commons

    Augustana international students share presentations on their home countries. Hosted by the International Program Office and Augustana International Club, this event is free and open to the public.

  • 50th Class Banquet (1971): 5 p.m., Sioux Falls Convention Center (1201 Northwest Ave.)

    Social begins at 5 p.m.; dinner at 6 p.m. The reunion class photo will be taken at this event. Registration is required.

    Alumni and friends are invited to participate in Viking Days gatherings hosted at these downtown hotspots. Registration is appreciated. Each location will have a unique program ‒ more information coming soon.

    • R Wine Bar (322 E 9th St.): Enjoy a meal and/or wine while our talented School of Music student musicians, faculty, and professional musicians treat you to an incredible night of musical talent. Reserve a table today, as seating will go quickly.
    • Fernson Downtown (332 S Phillips Ave) : Enjoy a pint, and hear from beloved Augustana Professor, Dr. David O'Hara at 7:30 p.m.
    • Remedy Brewing (8th & Railroad Center #102): At 7 p.m., hear from Head Football Coach Jerry Olszewski as he shares his excitement around Augustana Football.

  • 1996: 25th Class Reunion: 6:45-9 p.m., Remedy Brewing (8th and Railroad Center #102) — Join the 25th reunion class for a fun night at Remedy Brewing.
  • Breakfast with the School of Music: 9:30 a.m., Fryxell Humanities Building, Augustana University Campus.

    Come see what the School of Music is all about! Join them for breakfast with the bands and choirs, pick up some School of Music apparel, and take a tour of our recently renovated spaces.

  • Viking Days Parade: 10:30 a.m., University Place (formerly 28th Street) to 33rd Street on Grange Avenue

    To accommodate the parade, no parking will be allowed on the parade route effective 6 a.m. until the end of the parade.

    • Grange Avenue — From 26th to 33rd streets

  • Viking Tailgate: 11 a.m., Augieville (outside Kirkeby-Over Stadium)

    All alumni, friends and family are welcome to join us before the big game. There will be games and inflatables for the kids and a fantastic lunch for everyone! $10 for adults, $5 for children (through 8th-grade). Tickets available at the event.

  • Vikings Football vs. Upper Iowa: 1 p.m., Kirkeby-Over Stadium

    Tickets will be available in mid-August at goaugie.com/tickets. Augustana’s Marching Band will perform at halftime!

  • Alumni Choir Rehearsal: 4:30 p.m., Hamre Recital Hall, Fryxell Humanities Center

    All choir alumni are invited to sing under the direction of Dr. Paul Nesheim, director of The Augustana Choir. Alumni will sing with The Augustana Choir during Viking Days worship on Sunday in the Chapel of Reconciliation.

  • Student Activity: Lip-Sync Battle: 7 p.m., Back Alley, Morrison Commons
  • Vikings Reunite: All Alumni Gathering: 7:30 p.m., Five Oaks (480 E 69th St)

    Join us for an Augustana alumni celebration! Student musicians will perform. Due to the virtual nature of last year's Viking Days, the milestone reunion years ending in 0, 1, 5 and 6 will have their class pictures taken.  Cupcakes will be served. This event is free, but registration is requested.


  • Viking Days Worship: 10 a.m., Chapel of Reconciliation

    Join us for a meaningful worship service with Campus Pastor Rev. Ann Rosendale, featuring special music by The Augustana Choir and the Augustana Orchestra.

  • Viking Days Brunch: 11:30 a.m., Ordal Dining Room, Morrison Commons
