Augustana University is located in the growing and vibrant city of Sioux Falls, South Dakota with a metro area of over 265,000 people. Graduate Assistant or Part-Time – Strength and Conditioning
Augustana University invites applications for the position of Graduate Assistant or Part-Time - Strength and Conditioning. This position is intended to provide on-the-job learning experiences for college graduates interested in pursuing a career in various areas of intercollegiate athletics. This reports to the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. The position will provide support for day-to-day strength and conditioning operations and game day preparation.

Additionally, this position will be afforded the opportunity to gain experience in coaching, other Strength and Conditioning coaching related activities. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Assist Head Coach in all day-to-day operations of strength and conditioning program.
- Instruct, educate, and supervises all student-athletes regarding proper weight training and flexibility techniques
- Implement and monitor safe and effective strength and conditioning programs to improve physical performance for intercollegiate teams.
- Test student-athletes to evaluate performance level and desired areas of improvement.
- Design training strategies for injury prevention and improve sport specific performance.
- Maintain accurate strength and conditioning records.
- Run all social media platforms with appropriate athletic dept staff within brand guidelines.
- Adhere to all NCAA and Conference affiliated bylaws set forth by the governing bodies.
- Understand and adhere to the Augustana Athletic Department Manual that outlines general staff conduct.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of 1-year experience in a college Strength & Conditioning Program.
- Proficient in Google Platform.
- Ability to work on deadline and management several tasks simultaneously with consistent follow-through.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Creative self-starter with ability to exhibit diplomacy and tact while protecting confidentiality.
- Ability to work nights and weekends as typical in collegiate athletics.
- Strict adherence to established NCAA, conference, and University rules and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Former student-athlete.
- Previous strength and conditioning internship experience.
- A bachelor’s degree in exercise science or a health-related field and hold or be working towards CSCS, SCCC, or USAW certification.
- Social media experience
- Acceptance into an Augustana graduate studies program (if this position is a Graduate Assistant position only).
