The Writing Center is available to all students at Augustana University. Our internationally certified peer tutors/consultants can do the following:
- Help with any writing assignments (not just English).
- Discuss writing assignments to help you understand what is required.
- Assist you to think through and develop your ideas.
- Help you organize your information and plan your paper.
- Suggest strategies to help you edit and proofread effectively.
Call to set up a weekly appointment time or stop in during the walk-in hours for help with any writing assignment.
Tutors, their specialties, and their hours:
Angelina: English, Music, and Religion majors; especially enjoys brainstorming, Civitas, art, music, religion, and philosophy papers. Comfortable with MLA and Chicago Style. Hours: Sundays 8-10pm in library; Wednesdays 7-9pm.
Liz: MDFL, Spanish, and English as a New Language. Loves working with international students, paper formatting, and idea organization. Enjoys scientific research papers and original thoughts. Comfortable with MLA and AP. Hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays 8-10pm.
Harley: Finance and Accounting majors; Data Science minor; loves working with FYS, Civitas, and academic writing. Can tutor in Vietnamese as well. Hours: Thursday 6-8pm.
Mia: Biology major, ASL minor. Comfortable with Civitas papers; loves APA style. Usually has a fun animal fact to share. Hours: Mondays 7-9pm; Thursdays 3:30-5pm.
Josh: Graduate student with an M.A. in English. Especially enjoys papers in Environmental Studies, Literature, and Religion/Philosophy. Comfortable with Civitas and FYS papers. Hours: Mondays 6-8pm.
Olivia: Journalism and Marketing majors, minors in Spanish and Business Admin; loves tutoring journalism and Spanish papers; comfortable with MLA and AP. Hours: Mondays 7-9pm; Tuesdays 7-9pm.
Sydney: Journalism and Anthropology majors and Spanish minor. Experience with AP and MLA styles; loves to work with Civitas, FYS, or any other humanities paper. Hours: Tuesdays 3:30-5pm; Wednesdays 6-8pm.
Gedion: Data Science and Mathematics majors. Comfortable with MLA and FYS writing. Love working with international students. Can tutor in Amharic. Hours: Mondays 8-10pm; Thursdays 6-8pm.
Ella: English and Government/International Affairs major with a minor in Communications, most comfortable with MLA and Chicago styles. Hours: Sundays 8-10pm; Tuesdays 6-8pm.
Brooklynn: English and Secondary Education. Comfortable with MLA, Civitas, and FYS writing. Hours: Sundays 6-8pm.
Cal: Data Sci, Computer Information Systems, Math, Computer Sci; enjoys topics of tech, space, and sustainability; comfortable with Civitas, FYS writing, earlier stages of the writing process. Hours: Sundays 8-10pm.
Lauren: English, Government/International Affairs, and Spanish majors. Comfortable with FYS and Civitas papers along with MLA and Chicago styles. Enjoys helping students at any stage of the writing process. Hours: Tuesdays 7-9pm; Wednesdays 8-10pm.

Kelly: Biology major with a minor in Classical Studies and Business. I love reading lab reports, FYS/Civitas papers, and papers about literature. I am comfortable with MLA and APA. Hours: Sundays 7-9pm; Thursdays 8-10pm in library.
KT: Nursing major, Biology and Medical Humanities minors. Comfortable with FYS and Civitas papers along with MLA and APA styles. Especially welcomes questions regarding formatting and essay organization and helping students early in the writing process. Enjoys working on nursing content, research posters, and lab reports. Hours: Mondays 8-10pm in library; Thursdays 3:30-5pm.
Ellie: Biology major and Spanish minor. Comfortable with MLA and lab formatting. Especially enjoys working on FYS papers, lab reports, and biology course papers. Hours: Wednesdays 7-9pm; Thursdays 7-9pm
Julia: Biochemistry and Medical Humanities majors. Especially enjoys FYS and Civitas papers. Comfortable with MLA and APA and happy to help at any stage of the writing process. Hours: Tuesdays 8-10pm in library; Thursdays 8-10pm.
Hanna: Religion and English majors. Comfortable with FYS and Civitas papers along with MLA and APA styles. Loves to look at deep philosophical questions as well as the abstract in any concept. Hours Sunday 6-8pm; Wednesdays 8-10pm in library.
