Biography 
Dr. Michael Amolins joined the faculty in the Sharon Lust School of Education at Augustana University in February 2019 as a part-time faculty member in the undergraduate and Master of Education programs. He earned a doctorate in education curriculum & instruction from the University of South Dakota, master's degree in medicinal chemistry from the University of Kansas and a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry from Augustana College (University). Amolins serves as the director of Instruction and Federal Programs for the Harrisburg School District, where he previously taught chemistry and physics. His research and passions involve professional development, best instructional practices, teacher ethics and science education. He was named the 2019 South Dakota Curriculum Director of the Year, and, in 2013, received the American Chemical Society Midwest Region Award for Excellence in Teaching High School Chemistry. He is also a Goldwater Scholar. Amolins has developed numerous instructional programs and community partnerships for the Harrisburg School District, focused on providing opportunities and pathways for all learners. Amolins teaches the following MEd courses: EDUC 607: Foundations and Principles of Curriculum and EDUC 695: Research Synthesis Project.
