Biography 

Dr. Phyllis Johnson joined Augustana University as the director of the archaeology lab in 2023. Johnson graduated from Vanderbilt University in 2021 with a Ph.D. in anthropology, and she completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the department of anthropology at the University of Kentucky in 2023. Johnson has 17 years of archaeological experience in the Midwest and Southeast U.S. and Guatemala. Her specialties include cultural resource management, stone tool analysis, household archaeology and computational methods.
