Purchase a raffle ticket for a chance to win a classic car! Proceeds support the Dr. Sandra Looney Study Away Scholarship, which helps remove financial barriers for more students to participate in life-changing study away experiences.
From 1971 to 2020, Dr. Sandra Looney, professor emeritus of English, taught hundreds of students how to explore the world and internalize global perspectives that would forever impact their worldview. Her legacy courses continue to India and Scotland under leaders she has mentored and inspired. We are forever grateful for her dedication to study away and the lasting community she has built across continents.
Become a Friendship Family
The Augustana Friendship Family Program is designed to give international students a welcoming family contact in the Sioux Falls area. A family is encouraged to make plans with the student to enjoy an occasional meal out, a family event or campus activity together. The Friendship Family Program is a chance for both the family and student to learn and experience a new culture.
Donate Winter Clothing
Many international students come from warmer climates — making purchasing or packing heavy winter clothing difficult. The De & Dave Knudson Center for Global Engagement maintains a winter closet full of donated winter jackets, hats, gloves, scarves, boots and other warm clothing. Drop off gently-used items at the De & Dave Knudson Center for Global Engagement on Monday - Friday, from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Provide Financial Support
Augustana can attract more international students to AU, send more AU students abroad and internationalize the AU experience for all students through financial support. Contribute to the De & Dave Knudson Center for Global Engagement Annual Study Away Scholarship, International Student Scholarship or other priorities.
Attend a Friday Rendezvous
Hosted by the Augustana International Club (AIC) and supported by the De & Dave Knudson Center for Global Engagement, the Friday Rendezvous Program occurs most Fridays at 4 p.m., in the Back Alley of the Morrison Commons, from September through May. International student(s) present about their home with a new country featured each week. Returned study abroad students occasionally present as well.
