College attendance consists of direct and indirect costs. Direct costs are those that will appear on your university bill. Indirect costs are those that AU won’t bill you for, but are still wise to consider in your annual budget.
The maximum cost of attendance and scholarship awards can also affect final costs.
The comprehensive cost for the 2022-23 academic year is $46,490. This breaks down as follows:
- Tuition (12-16 credits): $36,332
- Double Room: $4,048
- Meal Plan: $5,100
- Student Fees: $1,010
- Total: $47,040
Estimated non-direct costs* students should also budget for:
- Books - $1,000 (varies by academic program)
- Travel - $2,200
- Personal Expenses - $3,700
*Augustana University uses College Board cost of living averages for our region to estimate indirect costs.
Maximum Cost of Attendance
The Department of Education allows students to receive aid and loans to cover their combined direct and non-direct costs. This amount cannot exceed the maximum cost of attendance. For Augustana University for the 2022-2023 academic year, that amount is $53,034.
Because AU’s scholarship programs also assist with campus housing and an unlimited meal plan, students who opt out of one or both of those will incur a 10% reduction on each scholarship they receive from Augustana University. Federal financial aid sources will not be reduced.
Augustana's Refund and Repayment Policy complies with federal regulations.
