The Nancy Dickinson Writing Center on the second floor of the Fryxell Humanities Center on campus. Since being established by former instructor and director Nancy Dickinson ‘79 in 1984, the center has amassed 20 tutors — helping an average of more than 1,600 students per year. The Writing Center is also proud to have renewed its College Learning and Reading Association (CRLA) certification — the only Augustana campus group to have this accreditation.

Augustana School of Music Launches Decade-Long Project to Honor Legacy of Lutheran Collegiate Choral Music
The Augustana University School of Music (SoM) has launched The Tiårasang (Norwegian for “10-year song”) Project as part of a bold, decade-long initiative by the Augustana Choir to honor, preserve and reimagine the legacy of Lutheran collegiate choral music.
With the launch of the The Tiårasang Project, the SoM released recordings made by the Augustana Choir in March 2025 at the Chapel of the Good Shepherd at Shattuck-St. Mary’s School in Faribault, Minnesota, which can be found now on all streaming services.
Augustana and its Alumni Reflect on Band’s 125th Anniversary
A celebration of the Augustana Band’s 125th anniversary will take place on Thursday, Nov. 11. The concert at the Washington Pavilion entitled “A Prairie of Voices,” will feature the All City Middle School Honor Band, as well as a commissioned piece by Dr. James M. David, an internationally-recognized composer.
A Half-Century of Learning, Laughter and Love: Augustana’s CLC Celebrates 50th Anniversary
This past September, during Augustana’s homecoming week, the CLC invited family and friends of the CLC to help celebrate its 50th Anniversary. The celebration provided an opportunity for those who had a connection to the CLC to reminisce — whether their memories were made at Old Main, OSL or somewhere in between.

The Augustana University Eide/Dalrymple Gallery presents “The Beauty of the Mundane: Paintings by Mike Murray,” which will be on view beginning on Friday, Nov. 14, through Wednesday, Dec. 10. A gallery reception, which is free and open to the public, will be held on Friday, Nov. 21, from 7-9 p.m., with an artist talk at 7:30 p.m. in the Fryxell Humanities Center Room 123.
Augustana University Continues Time-Honored Tradition With 2025 Christmas Vespers
In collaboration with the Office of Faith & Spiritual Life, the Augustana School of Music (SoM) invites the public to join the university community for its 88th annual Christmas Vespers concert. This year’s theme, “O Come Let Us Adore Him." The 2025 Christmas Vespers performances will take place at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. The first performance will be held on Friday, Dec. 5, at 7:30 p.m. along with two performances on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Vikings Rank Top 10 Nationwide for NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship Honorees
Augustana University student-athletes are not only excelling on the playing field, they’re getting it done in the classroom. In Academic Year 2024-25, three Augustana University student-athletes — Ella Bakken ‘25, Liz Dierks ‘25 and Ryan Hartman ‘24 — earned NCAA Postgraduate Scholarships, which recognize the association's most accomplished student-athletes.
Since 2018-19, Augustana is tied for the most scholarships won (11 in total) compared to all schools in NCAA Division II and ranks in the top 10 among all NCAA schools nationwide.
