Find answers here to frequently asked questions concerning Viking Days 2021.


Q. Do I need to print my registration, pick up tickets, or bring anything with me to Viking Days?

 

A. Physical tickets are only needed for the athletic events of the weekend, including the football game.

For all other Viking Days events, we will have your name on a list at each event you signed up to attend. A program for all the activities during Viking Days, including a campus map, will be available during the weekend. Q.When is the Hall of Fame celebration?

 

A. In 2019, Augustana Athletics began celebrating the Hall of Fame outside of Viking Days. This year's celebration will be held on Friday, Sept. 17 at 5 Oaks (480 E 69th St). Visit goaugie.com for more information.


Q. Where can I stock up on Augie gear?

 

A. Visit the Augustana Bookstore, located inside Morrison Commons.

The Bookstore's hours for the weekend are as follows:

  • Friday: 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Saturday: 9 a.m.-5 p.m. in the store
         Football game: 11:30 a.m. through Halftime
  • Sunday: 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Q. What is Vikings Reunite? What happened to the Blast? Is this event just for reunion years or is it for everyone with an Augie connection?

 

A.  Everyone with an Augustana connection — alumni, faculty/staff, parents and friends are welcome to attend. Classes ending in 1’s and 6’s will have their class pictures taken. This is a chance to hear student musicians perform and have a cupcake.


Q. I don't want to miss my reunion class picture. When will it be taken?

 

A. For the classes of 1946, 1951,1956, 1961, and 1966, reunion photos will be taken at the Honor Guard Luncheon.

For the class of 1970 and 1971, the reunion photo will be taken at their respective reunion dinners on Friday, Oct. 8 (5 p.m. Social; 6:00 p.m. Dinner.)

For the classes ending in 1 and 6 from 1976-2016, reunion photos will be taken at the Vikings Reunite event on Saturday, Oct. 9. The approximate photo times are as follows:

  • Class of 1975: 7:45 p.m.
  • Class of 1976: 7:50 p.m.
  • Class of 1980: 7:55 p.m.
  • Class of 1981: 8:00 p.m.
  • Class of 1985: 8:05 p.m.
  • Class of 1986: 8:10 p.m.
  • Class of 1990: 8:15 p.m.
  • Class of 1991: 8:20 p.m.
  • Class of 1995: 8:25 p.m.
  • Class of 1996: 8:30 p.m.
  • Class of 2000: 8:35 p.m.
  • Class of 2001: 8:40 p.m.
  • Class of 2005: 8:45 p.m.
  • Class of 2006: 8:50 p.m.
  • Class of 2010: 8:55 p.m.
  • Class of 2011: 9:00 p.m.
  • Class of 2015: 9:05 p.m.
  • Class of 2016: 9:10 p.m.

Q. My class is having a reunion this year and I heard about another event that is not on your schedule. How can I find out more about it?

 

A. Some reunion class agents have planned additional gatherings for their individual classes. Information about any of those individual events can be found in your summer class letter, on our socials and reunion events page, or by reaching out to your class agent.


Q. What is the last possible day to register online?

 

A. Online registration closes on Monday, Sept. 20.


Q. I don’t want to register. I just want to buy tickets. Where do I buy tickets?

 

A. A physical ticket is only needed for the football game and other athletic events. For all other Viking Days events, we will have your name on a list at each event you signed up to attend and your registration counts as your ticket for the event.


Q. I don’t want to order online. May I mail a check?

 

A. Yes, you may print this registration form and mail your check to: Augustana Alumni Relations, 2001 S. Summit Ave., Sioux Falls, SD 57197. To request a printed registration form be mailed to you, please call 605.274.4404


Q. Is the 5K run before the Parade this year?

 

A. No, there will not be a Langskip 5K run during Viking Days this year. The student group Augiethon is looking into other fundraising opportunities. Watch for other opportunities to support their cause throughout the year.


Q. What COVID-19 precautions will be in place? Will I be required to wear a mask on and/or off campus?

 

A. Both internal and external events hosted by Augustana University will be required to adhere to the university masking policy, which currently requires masking indoors regardless of vaccination status. The university will continue to monitor local conditions and reserves the right to make changes to the masking, occupancy and physical distance requirements for events. Any such changes will be advertised in advance and posted online.

 

Attendees are encouraged to follow the CDC guidance, monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 and stay home if not feeling well.
