On Dec. 3-4, the Augustana University Board of Trustees installed four new board members. Joining the Board of Trustees for 3-year terms, beginning in January 2022, are Manaal Ali ‘20, Cheryl Collins, Andrea DeGroot-Nesdahl and Dr. Damien Fair ‘98.

When Augustana University launched the School of Music in the spring of 2020, its key initiatives included establishing a new major with the Avid Learning Partner (ALP) program at its core. The new degree program — multimedia entrepreneurship with an emphasis in music — is now combining courses in Pro Tools for music creation, Media Composer for video editing and Sibelius for music composition and arranging, accompanied with a supporting curriculum in music and business.
Fred Lawyer ‘76 completed an 18-hour drive to Augustana’s campus to make a donation. He drove a several hundred-pound stone cross country to donate it to Augustana's art department for printmaking — a limited, irreplaceable resource.
Across the country and around the world, Augustana alumni are serving in ministry roles and living out the university's core values of Christian faith and service — from a seminarian in Rome and volunteer in Serbia to a hospital chaplain in Colorado and theatre camp director in Iowa. Alumni have served with organizations such as Athletes in Action, Border Servant Corps, Pan De Vida and Mission to the World.
Augustana University's nursing program within its School of Health Professions is officially endorsed as a Holistic Nursing Program by the American Holistic Nurses Credentialing Corporation (AHNCC) — the only college in South Dakota and one of only 17 schools in the nation to earn this accreditation.
There have been many alumni who have met one another and fallen in love at Augustana, who got married and led successful careers. However, few have accomplished so much apart yet complement one another like James (Jim) ‘72 and Carol (Saltee) ‘71 Oakland.
