In partnership with the Augustana University Biology Department, the Center for Western Studies (CWS) is hosting a book discussion and signing on Thursday, Oct. 13, at 6 p.m., in the Fantle Building with Augustana alumnus Dr. W. Carter Johnson ‘68, co-author of Ecology of Dakota Landscapes: Past, Present and Future.
The Eide/Dalrymple Gallery at Augustana University opens “It’s been a minute: Augustana Alumni Decade Show,” which will be on view from Thursday, Oct. 13, through Thursday, Nov. 10. A Homecoming Gallery reception will be held on Friday, Oct. 14, from 7-9 p.m. with a gallery talk at 7:30 p.m.

Creating Pathways: AU Partners With Sioux Falls School District to Introduce Sense of Belonging to Native American Students
A new partnership between Augustana University and the Sioux Falls School District (SFSD) is providing Native American students in Sioux Falls the opportunity to experience life on Augustana’s campus and guidance on the path to higher education.
Augustana will renovate the Morrison Commons, located on Commons Drive connected to the Edith Mortenson Center on the university’s campus. In partnership with Sodexo — AU’s food service and facilities management partner — construction on the approximately $7-8 million project is expected to be complete by Fall 2023.
Augustana University is excited to announce that its School of Music (SoM) will host its annual J. Earl Lee Piano Festival on Friday, Oct. 7, and Saturday, Oct. 8, at Hamre Recital Hall in the Fryxell Humanities Center. The festival features Pianist and Composer Conrad Tao — a leader in the new generation of classical music.
Carolyn "Beth" (Pearl) Mazzella ‘71, who attended the "Augustana On the Road" in Rapid City, South Dakota, shared the story of her impactful career in public health — beginning as a commissioned officer and retiring as assistant surgeon general/chief nurse officer in the U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS), with an honorable discharge after 26 years.
