Biography 

Dr. Celeste Uthe-Burow joined the faculty in the Sharon Lust School of Education at Augustana in May 2016 as a part-time faculty member in the Master of Arts in education program. During the 2019-20 academic year, Uthe-Burow joined the department of education as a full-time faculty member. Uthe-Burow earned a doctorate in counseling psychology at the University of South Dakota and two master's degrees in education administration and counseling & human resources at South Dakota State University. Uthe-Burow has been in the field of education since 1985, serving as a teacher, principal and district coordinator for the Sioux Falls School District. In addition to her work in the school setting, Uthe-Burow is a licensed professional counselor and licensed marriage & family therapist. She has worked as a counselor for Lutheran Social Services, where she served the communities of Mitchell, South Dakota, and surrounding communities, as well as the Sioux Falls-area counseling office. Currently, she is working to become a registered play therapist. Uthe-Burow is the program director for the Augustana University Master of Arts in counseling program that is projected to start in the fall of 2023. She teaches undergraduate courses in education.
