Position Title: Admission Counselor

Position Type: Full-Time

Department: Enrollment Management

Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD, is seeking an Admission Counselor. Responsibilities include managing recruitment efforts in a regional territory, public speaking engagements, leadership at university recruitment events, multi-channel communication with prospective students, application reading and evaluation, financial aid counseling, and managing special projects. This position is full-time, 12 months, and includes some travel, evening and weekend hours.

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Articulate the value and values of an Augustana education to prospective students and families, high school counselors, community college personnel, alumni, pastors, and community members.
  • Develop and implement a recruitment plan for an assigned geographic territory and/or transfer students.
  • Meet with prospective students and their families during on-campus visits.
  • Communicate with prospective students throughout the recruitment and application process, including extensive correspondence via phone and email.
  • Generate and review applications for admission and scholarships.
  • Represent Augustana at a variety of functions including college fairs, high school visits, receptions, and community events.
  • Plan and implement travel to strategic target markets in the fall and spring months; some weekend and evening work is required.
  • Manage select student recruitment programs and special projects as assigned by the Enrollment Management Leadership team.
  • Financial aid counseling and advising.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Valid Driver's License (Must have had a valid driver's license for at least 2yrs).

  • Evidence of successful university teaching and research work appropriate to the academic mission of the department and the university is required.

  • Successful experience in fundraising is desirable.

Position Title: Director of Operations

Position Type: Full-Time

Department: Physical Therapy

Augustana University’s Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program invites applications for the position of Director of Operations. This position is located in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.

The Director of Operations is responsible for directing and managing the DPT Program’s operations.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Works in collaboration with the Program Director to manage the operations, budget, personnel and facilities within the DPT Program;
  • Oversees and supervises work of DPT Program Administrative Coordinator; Admission Administrative Coordinator; Clinical Education Administrative Coordinator.
  • Aids and supports the Program Director in problem solving, project planning and management;
  • Advises the Program Director, Directors, and Faculty regarding the strategic plan, operations, budget, personnel and facilities;
  • Coordinates all related travel for the DPT Program Directors, Core faculty and adjunct clinical faculty;
  • Develops financial, personnel and facilities reports for internal and external bodies, including external accrediting bodies;
  • Prepares spreadsheets/reports/surveys for data analysis and monitoring of all financial resources, including operations, personnel, and revenue;
  • Serves as central contact with institutional and academic administration on operations, budget, personnel and facilities;
  • Orders all equipment and manages equipment budget for the DPT Program.
  • Plans, manages and directs the onsite lab intensive sessions for the DPT Program, including construction/deconstruction of labs and coordination of moving equipment;
  • Manage the movement of goods into and out of facilities to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, or sustainability of operations.
  • Oversees and coordinates the preventative maintenance contracting and schedule for all DPT Program equipment;
  • Implement or oversee environmental management or sustainability programs addressing issues such as recycling, conservation, or waste management.
  • Plans, manages and directs the information and instructional technology in the DPT Program as well as the program’s website;
  • Holds signatory authority for the Program Director in the daily operations of the university and uses discretional judgment to act on the Program Director’s behalf in resolving issues with routine operations;
  • Ensures compliance with institution and school personnel and fiscal policies;
  • Assists with budgetary aspects of annual accreditation reporting and self-study accreditation;
  • Coordinates with external stakeholders for ongoing infrastructure and adjunct faculty support;
  • Manage construction activities; Plan facility layouts or designs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • The ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • The use of logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • The ability to manage financial resources and determine how money will be spent to get the work done, and accounting for these expenditures.
  • The working knowledge of computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, write software, set up functions, enter data, or process information.
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Knowledge of administrative and office procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and workplace terminology.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred.
  • The ability to move objects from place to place with occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Selected individual must reside or be willing to relocate to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.

Position Title: Director of Video & Creative Content

Position Type: Full-Time

Department: Athletics

Augustana University is seeking a Director of Video & Creative Content who would operate within the university’s Athletics Department.

The Director of Video & Creative Content will work closely with members of the athletic administration staff and coaches and the marketing and communications office in developing content that tells the story of Augustana programs, student-athletes and the University.  This position is responsible for all aspects of video production including streaming using the new Midco Media Campus & Production Center and supports efforts of creative content ideation for Augustana’s 22 intercollegiate sports.  This position will advance the mission, values and vision of the University by developing compelling content that engages fans and alumni as well as the campus and broader Sioux Falls community.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

  • Create compelling video content for multiple platforms and owned communication channels, from short-form social media & video board content to long-form features for website and broadcast projects
  • Leads planning and staffing of all live stream home events utilizing the new Midco Media Campus & Production Center (control room) including part-time staff, students and interns
  • Responsible for developing, managing, and maintaining dynamic content that strategically enhances the Augustana University Athletics visual brand and takes advantage of storytelling opportunities
  • Collaborates with communications, marketing and development staff on social media strategy and content development that enhances revenue streams, fan engagement and brand awareness
  • Shoots video at practices, home games, select road games, community and special events to generate content and assists/coordinates interviews intended for video
  • Develops partnerships across campus with the multimedia entrepreneurship and communications departments, student groups, and faculty to increase campus engagement as well as student internship and staffing opportunities
  • Manages the tagging, distribution & archive of current and historical video assets
  • Maintains all media related equipment, facilities and supplies
  • This position will report to the Assistant Athletics Director for Communications.
  • Other administrative duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, preferably in video production, digital media, communications, public relations or related field
  • Proficient with specialized software and hardware common to video production, graphic design, and social media
  • Demonstrated ability to curate and adapt content for designated communications channels
  • Ability to work on deadline and manage several tasks simultaneously with consistent follow-through
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including interviewing, editing and proof-reading
  • Creative self-starter with ability to exhibit diplomacy and tact while protecting confidentiality.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as typical in collegiate athletics
  • Strict adherence to established NCAA, conference, and University rules and regulations

Desired Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years’ experience in creative services and digital media
  • Experience working in a collegiate or professional sports digital media department
  • Significant experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects, etc.)
  • Experience with TriCaster, ProductionTruck and/or Final Cut Pro

Position Title: Outdoor Program Graduate Assistant

Position Type: Part-Time

Department: Recreational Services

Augustana University is seeking an Outdoor Program Graduate Assistant in the Recreational Services department.

The Outdoor Program Graduate Assistant has responsibility for assisting the Director of Recreational Services in managing the recreational opportunities for the entire campus and in managing the recreational facility.  Primary responsibility is managing the Outdoor Recreation Program, and contributing strong leadership in the areas of staff training and development for the Outdoor Recreation program.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

  • Effectively manage and coordinate the Outdoor Recreation program:
  • Organize and direct the outdoor recreation program for the Augustana community as well as the potential to develop and coordinate community-facing programs.
  • Further develop the outdoor recreation program goals and priorities.
  • Train and supervise outdoor recreation program participants.
  • Coordinate scheduling and logistics of outdoor recreation program activities.
  • Maintain accurate participation records.
  • Effectively manage the outdoor recreation program budget and maintain accurate budget records.
  • Effectively market/promote the outdoor recreation program to the Augustana community.
  • Purchase equipment and sign off on any program expenditures.
  • Maintain an accurate equipment inventory.
  • Play a leadership role in the selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of staff in the recreational services department. Focusing primarily on:
  • Outdoor program student leadership
  • Weight room student supervisors
  • Assist in the staff development, leadership training, daily supervision, and conflict resolution skills training with other recreational services staff as needed.
  • Leading student staff toward growth and ongoing success in the department mission of Attracting People and Building leaders.
  • Developing servant heart leaders who serve with enthusiastic attitudes and create Wow experiences for the campus and Sioux Falls community.
  • Assist with other aspects of the Recreational Services programs and facility management as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Health, Physical Education, Outdoor Recreation, or related field
  • Certification in American Red Cross 1st Aid, CPR, AED
  • Related Wilderness first Aid certification
  • Climbing experience and related certifications
  • Experience in implementing adventure/outdoor recreation programs.

Position Title: Residence Hall Director

Position Type: Full Time

Department: Student Affairs, Residence Life

Augustana is seeking a Residence Hall Director. Residence Hall Directors serve as members of the Residence Life team within the division of Student Affairs, providing leadership and support to a dedicated, creative, and dynamic staff with responsibility for leading a comprehensive student life program. Residence Hall Directors provide ongoing support and supervision to students and staff; participate in social and educational program development; support the University’s mission, vision, and core values; and collaborate with other departments and divisions to provide excellent service.

Residence Hall Director positions are 12-month, full-time, live-in positions within the Residence Life department.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

  • Residence Hall Directors will be responsible for the supervision of one residence hall, for staffing and programmatic needs. Residence halls house 250 to 450 students, depending on location and provide opportunities to work with students in themed communities specific to service, vocation and faith, flexible housing, and first-year students.
  • Manage one co-ed residence hall of 50 to 250 students each.
  • Select, train, supervise, and evaluate student staff.
  • Facilitate building management, to include administration of check-in and checkout processes, communication of facility needs, room changes, roommate mediation, and key administration.
  • Provide direction to student staff in the development and implementation of programming designed to foster academic success, career exploration, wellness, diversity, community service, community building and development, and leadership development.
  • Be visible and available to students and staff.
  • Work with Director of Student Conduct for incidents that occur in university housing facilities.
  • Oversee programming and manage budget.
  • Maintain office hours for residence hall.
  • Serve as a source of support and intervention for students experiencing personal and interpersonal difficulties.
  • Serve as on-scene response for the larger Residential Education program on-call rotation.
  • Assess student needs and make referrals to appropriate offices and services.
  • Collaterals will be assigned based on experience and specific needs for the academic year
  • Examples include: 
    • Early Alert (EARS) case management.
    • Training/selection/recruitment of student staff. 
    • Residential education and programming model
    • Mental health programming and support
    • Housing - apartment & theme house communities
  • Assist and support Residence Life staff in achieving the goals of the department.
  • Represent Residence Life & Student Affairs at university functions, programs, activities, and events.
  • Serve as a member of University committees as assigned.
  • Collaborate on the development of department-wide assessment plans.
  • Manage summer projects, such as summer housing, camps, and conferences.
  • Availability for some additional evening, weekend, and holiday needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Successful candidates will possess a theoretical and practical knowledge of student development, its application within a residential environment, and a demonstrated ability to encourage and support diversity and inclusion.
  • Ability to articulate the value of a residential experience to students, staff, faculty, and parents.
  • Ability to create conditions that are accepting of differences regardless of gender, race, religion, abilities, class, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, and political affiliation.
  • Experience with crisis intervention and conflict management.
  • Practical knowledge of program evaluation and assessment of learning outcomes.
  • Ability to effectively communicate using oral, written, and electronic communication.
