Augustana University is proud to announce that its School of Music (SoM) has teamed up with the Sioux Falls Jazz & Blues (SFJB) Society to provide more outreach to middle and high school students in South Dakota through SFJB’s Jazz Diversity Project (JDP).
Almost 40 years ago, a love story began on Augustana’s campus. The young man happened to be Augustana President Dr. Bill Nelsen, and the woman, a community social worker named Margaret Rossow.

As part of its strategic plan, Augustana is expanding its Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program to Colorado — home to one of the university’s largest alumni bases. Housed in the university’s School of Health Professions, the launch of the Augustana Doctor of Physical Therapy Program in Colorado (DPT-CO) will take place in January 2027.

A total of 173 Augustana University students chose to make the world their classroom for January Interim (J-Term) 2026 — a 4-week session between semesters designed to be a time of curricular exploration and enrichment for students. The majority — 162 students — are taking part in Augustana faculty-led courses. The remaining 11 students are traveling as part of outside programs.
The Augustana Band has endured as one of the university’s most visible and beloved ensembles for more than a century. This year, for its 130th anniversary, the university will celebrate this longstanding tradition in a big way — inviting its alumni to participate in several events in the spring, as well as a fundraising initiative to raise money for band-related impact scholarships.

Hosted by Augustana University and the Center for Western Studies (CWS), the 28th Boe Forum on Public Affairs will feature an evening with Jon Meacham, presidential historian and Pulitzer Prize-winning author. The talk, entitled “What Has America Learned?” will be held at 7:30 p.m., on Wednesday, March 19, in the Elmen Center on Augustana’s campus.
Five Augustana students were inducted into the Mu Alpha chapter of Pi Delta Phi, the National French Honor Society for US college and university undergraduate and graduate students.
