Marketing

Why study marketing?

Marketing students at Augustana excel in everything from research to carrying out creative projects as they prepare to enter in-demand careers across the business world.

  • Marketing majors work with professionals as they learn to research and write marketing plans and manage projects.
  • Students who study marketing assist with fundraising efforts and strategic planning, research global markets for U.S. companies, design social media campaigns and product branding and plan events.
  • Marketing alumni report they are well prepared to lead marketing agencies, work in sales careers, research trends in business and operate inside corporations to successfully support products in the marketplace.

This year’s Viking Days festivities included a special dedication ceremony for Augustana’s School of Business — now the Rydell School of Business, supported by Bill and Ellen Rydell. The Augustana community celebrated on Thursday, Oct. 3, with a gathering in the Madsen Social Science Center, home of the newly-named school.

Augustana is proud to announce that Dr. Roxanne Stevens has been named the university’s new dean of the School of Business. Stevens began serving in her role in mid-August. Stevens is working on both a short- and long-term plan for the School of Business that includes growth initiatives, community partnerships and student engagement opportunities — such as additional internships, student organizations and honor societies.

Augustana University student Olivia Bertino ‘23 is a journalism, Spanish, business administration and marketing quadruple major from Omaha, Nebraska. She is interning this summer at Levitt Sioux Falls — part of a national network of outdoor Levitt music venues dedicated to strengthening the social fabric of communities through free summer concerts.
