Biography 

Christa Gunderson earned a B.A. in Deaf education/elementary education from Augustana College (now University) and AAS in sign language interpreting from St. Paul College. She secured national certification through the National Association of the Deaf in 1992. After several years of interpreting experience, Gunderson earned an M.A. in curriculum development & adult education from South Dakota State University. While studying for her advanced degree, she began teaching part time at Augustana. Prior to joining the faculty, Gunderson served as a full-time staff interpreter for Communication Service for the Deaf. She holds the following national interpreting certifications: NIC-Adv; NAD V and EIPA. In addition to her collegiate responsibilities, she works as a video relay and freelance community interpreter.
